Even if we have to rent a theater, we will show this movie in theaters. It’s okay if it makes no money at the box office. Theatrical distribution = Marketing.
Once the film is finished, it will be entered into film festivals. If it’s not picked up for distribution, we’ll four-wall a theater in New York City for two weeks to make sure we get a review in the New York Times. That run and the review will help with marketing.
The intent of that marketing is to help in the sales of the movies to VOD platforms, DVD/BluRay Distributors, and foreign markets. Designing a great poster will help big time in the marketing as well. Beginning with this blog, and throughout the production, postproduction and distribution phases of the movie, grass roots marketing through social media will continually be done, too.
